About Land Records in Sindh:
The majority of the globe has witnessed a transition from paper to digital records, and starting the Sindh Authority Land Records was done with this in mind (SALR). The provincial Board of Revenue has done this via computerising the Land Administration and Revenue Management Information System (LARMIS) (BOR). The LARMIS is the largest database in Sindhi, measuring 6 terabytes in size.
The culture of corruption and bribery both inside and outside the department will change as a result of the millions of pages of land ownership information. In addition, other provinces in the country are working toward a computerized database of land records by following this model. Encroachments on state territory have been found on private, institutional, and park sites using a geodatabase system (GIS).
The digitization of land records has improved the province’s property sector’s efficiency and openness. The following advantages have been provided by the automation of stamps and land record registration:
- Automating the processes for demand generation and stamp distribution.
- preventing the falsification of original documents.
- Access to each land record’s status and online report generating.
- Transparency in the sale of stamps and the collection of fees.
- Statistics of comprehensive management reports.
Major advantages provided to Sindh’s general public include:
- Access to property documents online
- Limitations on multiple registrations
- Instant record search for lost or outdated data
Land ownership conflicts will decrease thanks to Sindh’s computerized land records database, which will also improve the effectiveness of real estate authentication. The newly created system displays verified ownership data as well as the precise location of any mentioned property. Additionally, the SALR seeks to develop a safe and open investment environment within the province’s real estate sector. Old settlement maps and documents are also being digitized and chemically processed to preserve them.
